Another Day at the Vet - Foster Care Day 13 - 27.4 lbs (10.7.14)

Kora stopped by the vet and weighed 27.4 lbs. Also, the bed sore that had been down to the bone had completely grown over so there was need to have her leg wrapped any longer!

She also got the approval to add dry food back into her diet. We will still be mixing it with canned food and working her back onto all dry.

Also, she is now going up and down the steps without help!

A Visit From Some VIPs - Foster Care day 10 (10.4.14)

Kora went up the stairs (about 10 steps leading to our back yard) this morning w/ out any help (I was next to her to steady her if needed but she didn't)!I think her motivation is that she figured out that our other foster always leaves a little food in their bowls cause when she got to the top of the stairs she straight lined it to our other foster's food bowl! Wish I could have filmed going up the stairs. It was funny cause it was sideways & backwards cause her hind legs weren't strong enough.

Also, Kora was visited by the Vet Tech who worked on her the first evening she was brought to CACC (Sue Wojcik) as well as the CACC Transfer Team volunteer who helped get her to Players for Pits and set up her foster family (Sarah Lauch) who made her this wonderful blanket for her!

First Check Up - Foster Care Day 6 (10.30.14)

Our little girl went for her checkup and she did great! She received another antibiotic injection and was walking all over the exam room! The staff was so excited to see her, too. She still stumbles a little but shes walking and she gets up each time she falls down.

She has successfully put on 9lbs since she was rescued on Sept 17th. Her next check up is in 6 days and we are hoping that she can put on 5lbs this week - at least that's the goal! She is still stick skinny and needs to be carried often, but shes making huge strides every day. She is also very open to meeting dogs. She is in a foster home with greyhounds who are so curious about her and have even been able to get close to her. She is very curious and looks like she will be very accepting of dogs once she's a little stronger.

Here is a picture of Kora in her new sweater that was donated to her from a facebook follower and her new favorite blankie from Patrick's Pantry!

Kora still has a lot to do to be considered out of the woods. Her sores are healing well and we are being extra cautious about preventing any infections. Her bandage was switched yesterday to a dry bandage finally b/c tissue had started to regenerate at the site where she had bone exposed on her leg.

Here is Kora with a few more of the items donated for her!
